Thomas Hansen, MD, is originally from Davenport, Iowa. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and his Master of Business Administration from Creighton University’s School of Medicine in Omaha Nebraska. His other degrees include a Master of Divinity degree from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Mass, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Philosophy and Letters from St. Louis University.

After completing his residency in Family Medicine at Creighton University, Thomas Hansen joined the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at Creighton University and, after two years, served as program director from 2005 to 2010. In 2010, Dr. Hansen was appointed Associate Dean of Medical Education where he oversaw a successful LCME accreditation visit and the development of a clinical curriculum at Creighton’s regional campus at St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 2013 Dr. Hansen moved to Chicago to assume the role of Chief Academic Officer for Advocate Health Care, based in Downers Grove. In this role he oversees medical education, research and library services for the Advocate system. He is the Designated Institutional Official at Advocate’s three teaching hospitals and is the Institutional Official for the Advocate IRB.
