Clint E. Adams, DO, FACHE

Dr. Adams assumed his current position as President of Rocky Vista University in October 2015 having served at Western University of Health Sciences, WesternU, for eleven years as Vice President of Clinical Affairs, Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) and Founding Dean of the additional University Campus in Lebanon, ORE, COMP-NW. He joined WesternU in January 2005 following a distinguished career in the United States Navy, where he attained the rank of Rear Admiral and served in a variety of capacities, notably as Command Surgeon for United States Fleet Forces Command, Command Surgeon for Allied Command for Transformation (NATO), and Commander of the Naval Regional Medical Center and Tricare Mid-Atlantic Region in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Dr. Adams is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives and board certified in Anesthesiology and Family Medicine. He completed an anesthesia residency at George Washington University, Family Medicine at the Charleston Naval Hospital, and holds a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is a past president of the Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and the AMA. He completed an Academic Fellowship at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and was Chair of the Council of Osteopathic Postgraduate Training committee of the AOA.

Dr. Adams oversaw the implementation of a learner-centered curriculum, revision of the admissions interview process, expansion of clinical rotations, and the growth of research funding and publications. He expanded the College’s clinical practice and lead COMP to a major expansion in full time faculty. The results of which increased the recognition of the College’s academic profile as reflected in national rankings, in licensure examinations, and in the placement of graduates in postdoctoral residency programs.

OPTI-West, the residency development arm of WesternU, quadrupled the number of programs and dramatically increased the number of osteopathic residencies in the West during his tenure.

Dr. Adams has received both state and national recognitions and awards, and served on the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Board of Directors, and most notably in 2014, paved the way as a trailblazer in osteopathic medical education as one of first Osteopathic physicians to serve as a Director on the governing Board of ACGME for the newly established Single Accreditation System for graduate medical education in the United States.
