Physician Education

Residents and fellows entering ACGME-accredited programs are physicians who have graduated from medical school and are pursuing specialization. Residency programs provide clinical experience and education in a particular specialty. Fellowship programs provide additional clinical experience and education in a subspecialty after residency. Practicing physicians, after completing their residency and fellowship, must participate in continuing medical education to maintain their licenses.
