Annual Educational Conference

The 2016 Annual Educational Conference took place February 25-28, 2016 at the Gaylord National in National Harbor, Maryland. With approximately 3400 attendees from across the US and the world, the conference was a great success, providing a wonderful opportunity to gain knowledge, exchange ideas, and network to share practices across the graduate medical education community. Attendance and involvement in the more than 150 pre-conference workshops, conference sessions, and highlight events was high and inspiring.

Thank you to all who participated, including all of the outstanding presenters and speakers. Features of this year’s conference included a focus on physician well-being, Milestones, and the ACGME’s newest initiative, Pursuing Excellence In Clinical Learning Environments, which announced its award process during the event. The conference also offered resources for osteopathic institutions and programs applying for ACGME accreditation, informative and impressive poster sessions, and an exciting Exhibit Hall.

We were pleased to acknowledge the outstanding recipients of the ACGME’s Awards, including the announcement of the first winners of the DeWitt C. Baldwin Jr. Award—given to institutions with accredited GME programs that are exemplary in fostering a respectful, supportive environment for medical education and the delivery of care—presented in partnership with the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. A full list of award recipients can be found here.

Thank you again for the support and attendance that helped to make the event such a tremendous success. In the coming weeks we will provide additional summaries, tools, and resources from this year’s Annual Educational Conference.
