Ajit K. Sachdeva, MD, is Director of the Division of Education
at the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is also Adjunct Professor
of Surgery at The Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.
Dr. Sachdeva received his medical degree from the All-India Institute
of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, and completed his residency in general
surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the ACS,
Dr. Sachdeva was the Leon C. Sunstein, Jr., Professor of Medicine and
Health Sciences Education and Professor and Vice Chairman for Educational
Affairs at MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine.
He also served as Chief of
Surgical Services at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was awarded the Distinguished Educator Award (a Lifetime Achievement
Award) by the Association for Surgical Education, the Lindback Award for
Distinguished Teaching, and the Blockley-Osler Award for Excellence in
Clinical Teaching. He is past president of the Association for Surgical
Education, American Association for Cancer Education, and the Alliance
for Clinical Education.
