John H. Beernink is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in Plastic Surgery (1973). He received his medical school education at the University of Michigan and his training in Surgery at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His training in Plastic Surgery occurred at Blodgett and Butterworth Hospital, also in Grand Rapids. He has been on the staffs of both hospitals since 1972 and has held a number of hospital positions, including chief of staff at Butterworth Hospital from l987 until 1993; for a period of time he was director of medical education at Butterworth Hospital. From 1978 till 1997 he was director of the Plastic Surgery residency program at the Grand Rapids Area Medical Education Consortium (GRAMEC).
