ACGME Accreditation Field Representative
Harold E. Johnstone, MD

Harold E. Johnstone, MD, is a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton and his medical school degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed an internship at Christ Hospital, and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bethesda Hospital, both located in Cincinnati. After nine years in private practice he became the director of the Obstetrics-Gynecology residency program at Bethesda Hospital, and served in that capacity for 25 years. For three of these years, he also served as Director of the Obstetrics-Gynecology Department at Bethesda Hospital. He held an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.


Dr. Johnstone also served one year with the Army Medical Corps, during which time he was stationed at Dewitt Army Community Hospital in northern Virginia. He is a member of several professional societies, including the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Fertility Society, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. Among his other interests is serving as a volunteer interpreter for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.


He joined the ACGME Accreditation Field Staff in January 2002, and has since conducted over 291 site visits.


Dr. Johnstone is a resident of Sanibel, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio.
