J. David Marler, Jr., PhD

David Marler received his master’s degree in Education from Mississippi State University and completed his PhD in Administration of Higher Education at Michigan State University. Upon receiving his doctorate, he became the Assistant to the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, where acted as administrative liaison to 18 wholly and jointly administered academic departments in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was responsible for the administration of affiliated teaching hospital contracts and was the coordinator for faculty planning and utilization.


His professional experience includes serving as the Associate Vice President in the Division of Education at Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootsville, OH. He also served as director of a joint Department of Medical Education at St. Joseph’s and Northside Hospitals of Atlanta, GA.


In February 2000, Dr. Marler became the Director of Medical Education and DIO at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education at Wayne State University’s Providence Campus in Southfield, MI. Dr. Marler began work with the ACGME in January 2007.
