		John Russell Kirkpatrick, MD, FACS
			Dr. John R. Kirkpatrick is a board certified surgeon. He attended University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed his residency in surgery at the University of Kansas. Dr. Kirkpatrick came to the ACGME from the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC, where he was a Senior Consultant in Surgery and the Harold H. Hawfield Chair of Surgery
		Prior to coming to the ACGME, Dr. Kirkpatrick held academic appointments at Georgetown University School of Medicine, the George Washington University, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Maryland and Wayne State University in Michigan. His professional experience includes serving as Chairman for the Department of Surgery at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Director of Surgical Nutrition and Metabolism Unit and Chief of General Surgery at Harper-Grace Hospital, Detroit, and Chief of Surgical Services at the University Health Center, Detroit Medical Center, in Detroit.
		Dr. Kirkpatrick is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and has won numerous teaching awards and research awards from the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter and the American College of Surgeons. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife and children.
