ACGME Accreditation Field Representative
Nalini Juthani, MD

Nalini Juthani, MD, is a board certified Psychiatrist. She was born in Bombay, India and received her medical school training at the University of Bombay in 1971. She started her residency training in Psychiatry in 1975 at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. In 1979 she became the residency program director of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center program and served in that capacity for 25 years. In addition to her residency training duties, Dr. Juthani has served as the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, and has held a number of faculty appointments at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, where in 1999 she became professor of Clinical Psychiatry.


Dr. Juthani's professional interests include spirituality and religion in psychiatric medicine, patient safety, and cultural competency. She has received a number of awards for excellence in teaching of psychiatry and in 2001 was a finalist of the ACGME's Parker J. Palmer "Courage to Teach Award."


Dr. Juthani is an active member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association. Dr Juthani has served as an oral Board Examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for several years. She has also served as a program reviewer for the Residency Review Committee for Psychiatry and a Specialist Site Visitor for the Committee.


Dr. Juthani joined the ACGME Accreditation Field Staff in January, 2004. Since that time she has carried out site visits of 236 programs.


She resides in Scarsdale, New York, with her husband.
