ACGME Amends Business Associate Agreement to Comply with HIPAA Security Rule, the Compliance Deadline for Which is April 20, 2005
ACGME is amending its HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) to comply with the HIPAA Security Rule, and it requires each sponsoring institution that is a covered entity to submit an executed amended BAA between the sponsoring institution and ACGME to ACGME on or before the Security Rule compliance deadline of April 20, 2005. Posted on the website page are new HIPAA Compliance Documents: (1) ACGME HIPAA FAQs – March 2005, which contains a discussion of the ACGME Amended BAA 2005 and of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules relating to ACGME; (2) the ACGME Amended BAA 2005; and (3) a short memo from ACGME counsel describing the changes to the ACGME BAA 2003 that are incorporated in the ACGME Amended BAA 2005 |
