Journal of Graduate Medical Education

About the Journal
The Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME) is the peer-reviewed journal of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The journal serves as a vehicle for communicating information about graduate medical education (GME) to inform and engage the GME community and increase knowledge about teaching and learning and the environment in which residents and fellows learn and participate in care. The aim is to promote scholarship and critical inquiry related to graduate medical education.

Statements or opinions expressed in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education reflect the views of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official policy of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education unless this is clearly specified.

The Journal appears quarterly; issues are released in March, June, September, and December. The inaugural issue is September 2009.

Publisher 
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is a private, not-for-profit, separately incorporated non-governmental organization responsible for the accreditation of Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs and sponsoring institutions in the United States of America, its territories, and possessions. The ACGME’s mission is to improve health care by assessing and advancing the quality of resident physicians’ education through accreditation.

Content
The journal is devoted to original research, review articles, and commentaries about graduate medical education and related matters relevant to the education of residents and fellows and to the settings in which such education occurs. The journal publishes original studies related to all aspects of graduate medical education and the environment in which it occurs, as well as reviews, policy articles, commentaries, letters to the editor, and invited guest editorials.

Each issue has a limited number of pages with important updates from the ACGME and its review committees. This section is clearly distinguished from the peer-reviewed sections.

Advertising
Advertising in the Journal is limited to announcements for academic positions and relevant educational activities. All advertising is subject to the approval of the editorial staff.
