CHICAGO – Nearly 700 residency program directors, coordinators and graduate medical education faculty are expected to attend the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Annual Educational Conference, March 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago.
Paul H. O’Neill, former Secretary of the Treasury and founder and CEO of the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative and James Bagian, MD, a former astronaut and director of the Dept. of Veterans Affair’s National Center for Patient Safety, will each present a keynote speech on March. 4. Executive Director David C. Leach, MD, and ACGME Chair Charles L. Rice, MD, will also address the conference.
The conference will feature 41 sessions encompassing all areas of residency program administration and accreditation. The sessions will include workshops on the site visit process, duty hour standards, the ACGME general competencies, resident evaluation and patient safety. The sessions will be led both by ACGME staff and graduate medical education experts from across the country.
The conference will also feature demonstrations of the ACGME’s Accreditation Data Systems, a poster session and a private reception at the Field Museum.
