ACGME seeking nominations for awards honoring program and institutional coordinator excellence
CHICAGO, May 10, 2010 –The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education is accepting nominations for the 2011 GME Program Coordinator Excellence Award and GME Institutional Coordinator Excellence Award. The nomination deadline is July 1.
Program coordinators–also known as administrators, managers or assistant directors–assist program directors and manage the program’s daily administrative operations. Institutional coordinators, who are also known by various other titles, support the designated institutional official and manage the daily activities of the graduate medical education office. The awards honor program coordinators and institutional coordinators who, among other criteria, have improved graduate medical education within the program or institution; have outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organization skills; and have strong knowledge of the accreditation process.
The ACGME will choose five program coordinators to receive the GME Program Coordinator Excellence Award and one institutional coordinator to receive the GME Institutional Coordinator Excellence Award. Nominations must include a completed application form and four letters of recommendation. Application forms and instructions can be found on the ACGME website in the “ACGME Awards” section.
Awardees will receive $1,000 and a plaque, along with complimentary travel expenses and registration to the 2011 ACGME Annual Educational Conference. The awardees will be honored at a luncheon at the conference, which will take place March 3-6 in Nashville, Tennessee.
