The ACGME recognizes that program directors face many challenges in administering a residency. Those finding innovative ways to teach residents to provide quality health care in this challenging environment should be celebrated. The ACGME will select ten deserving program directors for its Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Award . We are now seeking nominations for 2008-09.
On the ACGME website, you will find instructions and an application form. Three letters of support with specific information (outlined in the instructions) must accompany the form. Please know that all materials (application form, support letters, and curriculum vitae) must arrive at the ACGME by email in one batch; materials received by piecemeal will not be accepted.
All nomination materials must be received by July 2, 2008. Nominations will be reviewed and candidates selected in September 2008; the awards will be presented at the March 2009 ACGME Educational Conference during the Parker J. Palmer award ceremony for outstanding DIOs and program directors.
We request that you circulate and/or post this information for designated institutional officials, faculty, residents, educational coordinators, CEOs, and others who may wish to nominate their program director for the Courage to Teach Award
Thank you for your assistance in honoring the best in graduate medical education.
