Nominators had this to say:
During the past 13 years as a residency director, Dr. Carek has been honored repeatedly for his contributions both locally and nationally. What is unique about Peter, however, is the diversity of environments and areas of expertise in which he has excelled. For example, he is a recognized expert among his colleagues in the application of evidence based medicine and quality improvement in the educational setting… both for resident teaching and faculty development. He is a leader in the development of “areas of concentration” in family medicine education. He led much of the development of the Frontline: Diabetes and Frontline: Better Bones national quality improvement initiatives that are now the templates for “train the trainer” models that incorporate both faculty and residents in new knowledge dissemination. And, as his curriculum vitae will attest, Peter is an expert in the field of sports medicine and a productive scholar.
