2013 Annual Educational Conference Summary

The 2013 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, which took place February 28 - March 3, 2013 at the Swan and Dolphin in Orlando, Florida, was an enormous success and marked the ACGME's largest conference to date. The Conference, themed "New Horizons", set records in numbers of attendees (nearly 2800 registrants) and sessions (118), as well as over 100 international participants interested in GME and ACGME International. Numerous sessions focused on the ACGME's Next Accreditation System (NAS), and provided participants with information and a deeper understanding of all aspects of this next phase in accreditation, including: the new Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) program; faculty development initiatives; using, teaching, and assessing the Milestones; and keen attention to patient safety and quality improvement,and resident well-being; among other relevant topics. The pre-Conference Coordinator Forum, "Moving Forward", was also extremely well-received, and hosted just under 800 participants.
