The tools included below are examples of specific instruments or approaches that may be used to assess the general competencies. Information regarding the technical and practical characteristics of each approach is provided. The lists of example tools are not exhaustive. They may, however, serve as a starting point for examining approaches to assessing the competencies. Indeed, some examples are included to stimulate ideas for further developments in assessment. Inclusion of a particular instrument or approach does not imply endorsement by the ACGME.
The ACGME Outcome Project gratefully acknowledges the generosity of those researchers, organizations, and publishers who permitted placement of their assessment instruments on this web site. In the next year, approaches to assessing all six competencies will be added.
