Thuy-Tien Le, DO
Dr. Thuy-Tien Le is a medical officer in the Graduate Medical Education Branch at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), overseeing a national portfolio of Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) residency programs that educate and train physicians in community-based settings in rural, tribal, and underserved communities across the US. In her role, she provides clinical and policy analysis on graduate medical education (GME) standards, accreditation, board certification, and the interaction of GME financing across federal and non-federal funding mechanisms. She collaborates closely with colleagues across HRSA and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to support effective implementation of federal GME policy. To strengthen collaboration among residency programs, Dr. Le developed and implemented a national peer learning forum for her THCGME grantees to share operational challenges and best practices.
Dr. Le is a board-certified family physician. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and completed her family medicine residency at St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital, where she served as chief resident. Following residency, she returned to her home state of Washington to fulfill a Health Professional Service Scholarship commitment at her father’s medical practice, providing care to an underserved community. Prior to joining HRSA, she completed an osteopathic health policy fellowship that included a focus on national health workforce policy.
