Research Data Requests

The ACGME collects and maintains data that support accreditation, educational improvement, physician workforce insights, and research in graduate medical education. Many reports, dashboards, and publicly available data sets can be accessed through ACGME Cloud and other ACGME resources. Researchers are encouraged to first explore options there before submitting a request.

For researchers seeking access to use ACGME data for scientific study, the ACGME has a formal process for evaluating research data requests, which provides a consistent, criteria-based approach for reviewing requests. Requests are evaluated based on factors including scientific merit, alignment with the ACGME Mission, data stewardship responsibilities, privacy considerations, and organizational capacity.

Requests may be approved, denied, or returned for revision following review by appropriate ACGME stakeholders.
