ACGME Partners with Docs With Disabilities Initiative for Disability Resource Hub
January 20, 2026
A collaboration between the ACGME and Docs with Disabilities Initiative, and funded in part by a Josiah Macy Jr. Catalyst Award for Transformation in Graduate Medical Education, the Disability Resource Hub provides users with the knowledge and resources to support learners with disabilities in the transition from medical school (undergraduate medical education (UME)) and through residency and fellowship (graduate medical education (GME)).
Resources in the Hub include:
- UME to GME Transition Toolkit
This toolkit includes two guides: one for institutions and programs (both UME and GME) and another for learners. Both guides support education leaders and learners in fostering a successful transition, with core components including preparation during UME, accessible recruitment, onboarding, and accommodations throughout GME.
- Disability Policy Toolkit
This toolkit offers a structured, user-friendly approach, and empowers GME programs to create policies that support their residents and fellows.
- Case Studies
These case studies showcase real-world examples of successful disability accommodation in GME, co-authored by program directors and disabled learners. They highlight practical solutions for implementing accommodations across various specialties, providing concrete guidance for programs seeking to foster accessibility.
- Publications and Reports
The Hub can be accessed on the ACGME’s digital learning platform, Learn at ACGME. A free account is required to access the content.
