The New York Academy of Medicine, in collaboration with the ACGME, awards the Jeremiah A. Barondess Fellowship in the Clinical Transaction, which supports junior faculty members in internal medicine with a commitment to develop a program that enhances this fundamental element of clinical care through education innovation.

To provide clarity for trainees and programs during this extraordinary time, the ABMS and ACGME offer the following statement of joint principles and will continue to address ongoing developments.

The ACGME is issuing supplemental guidance regarding how a Sponsoring Institution’s days in Emergency Category status will be counted; protection of resident, fellow, and faculty member health and safety; and assessment of residents and fellows.

The ACGME invites comments from the community of interest regarding the proposed Requirements listed below.

This award recognizes an institutional coordinator that demonstrates in-depth knowledge of graduate medical education and the process for institutional review. This person skillfully manages the multiple roles of administrator, counselor, enforcer, coordinator, organizer, and scheduler.

This award recognizes program directors who have fostered innovation and improvement in their residency programs and served as exemplary role models for residents.

This award recognizes program coordinators for their in-depth understanding of the accreditation process, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and projects to improve graduate medical education programs.

This award recognizes residents and fellows who have fostered innovation and improvement in their residency programs, advanced humanism in medicine, and increased efficiency and emphasis on educational outcomes.
