2020 David C. Leach Awardee Dr. Andrew Vivas is currently an assistant attending and adult and pediatric spinal deformity fellow at Columbia University, and was formerly a neurological surgery resident at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.

At the 2021 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, Athena Gonzalez and her team presented their poster, Strategies for Optimizing Fit Testing for Residents and the Evolving Role of the Program Coordinator, about their work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure residents were wearing properly sized and fitted masks and respirators, even as supplies changed.

The medical malpractice insurance coverage for residents and fellows employed at Hahnemann University Hospital (HUH) between January 2018 and September 2019 has been extended to March 12, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

For more than two years, the COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally changed how every person on the globe works, plays, and interacts with each other. Dr. Eli Khazoum is the rising Chief Resident for the internal medicine residency program at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields in Olympia Fields, Illinois. He attended the 2023 ACGME Annual Educational Conference in part to support his transition into the Chief Resident role. As a resident and first-time Annual Educational Conference attendee, we asked him to share his impressions.

2023 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Awardee Dr. Adriana K. Malone is the program director of the hematology-oncology fellowship program and Senior Associate Dean for GME at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

2022 Debra L. Dooley GME Program Coordinator Excellence Awardee LaToya Wright currently serves as the institutional administrator at UT Southwestern Medical Center; she was program coordinator for diagnostic radiology, for which she is receiving this award. 

2022 Debra L. Dooley GME Program Coordinator Excellence Awardee Hemali Shah, C-TAGME, PACE works as the administrative director of graduate medical education for the department of surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
