Andrea Rio’s name – or maybe her e-mail address – is probably very familiar to anyone who’s ever attended any ACGME educational program. Her integral role in the Annual Educational Conference, however, is much more than processing registrations and payments and making sure badges print correctly! As a key member of the ACGME’s Educational Activities team, she is central to the growth and success of the conference. We asked her to share a bit more about what she does and what the conference experience is like for her behind the scenes.

Sarah Meadows, EdD, FACEHP and Abraham Nussbaum, MD, MTS studied the effects of financial debt on resident burnout. and presented their work in the Poster Hall at the 2022 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, which was held virtually March 30-April 1, 2022.

Jamie Arsenyevictz, MPH, led a team at Geisinger Health System to develop a GME analysis tool, leading to the development of shared language and knowledge surrounding GME finance and value between the GME Office and Geisinger leadership.

We’re at the mid-way point in the five-year transition to a single GME accreditation system—and this is our third pre-conference for osteopathic residency and fellowship programs. A lot has happened in the last few years, and we’re proud of our expanding family—not just on the program side, but also on the accreditation and governance side.

ACGME staff members continue to assist residents/fellows displaced by the closure of Hahnemann University Hospital by compiling and disseminating a list of available positions at other institutions, per the ACGME Extraordinary Circumstances Policy.

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience hosted a virtual meeting, Ensuring Clinician Well-Being in an Age of Uncertainty, to elevate the urgency of national action and map efforts needed to coordinate the long-term health and well-being of clinicians through COVID-19 and beyond.
