As September is National Suicide Prevention Month, the ACGME is taking the opportunity to reiterate its commitment to supporting mental health and well-being.

To provide clarity for trainees and programs during this extraordinary time, the ABMS and ACGME offer the following statement of joint principles and will continue to address ongoing developments.

The proposed revisions to Section VI of its Common Program Requirements are open for public comment over the next 45 days. The Requirements provide uniform standards for all accredited US residency and fellowship programs.

The videos and resources from last week’s GME Stakeholders Congress on Preparing Residents and Fellows to Manage Pain and Addiction are now available to the public free of charge. To access, sign up for a Learn at ACGME account or log into an existing account to view the content.

The report, Documenting a Day of Discussion: Ahead of the Crest of the Wave Creating the National Agenda for Systemic Change for Enhanced Clinician Well-Being, is now available for review in Learn at ACGME.

At the 2021 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, Athena Gonzalez and her team presented their poster, Strategies for Optimizing Fit Testing for Residents and the Evolving Role of the Program Coordinator, about their work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure residents were wearing properly sized and fitted masks and respirators, even as supplies changed.
