The ACGME is honored to recognize the 2026 recipients of the ACGME Awards! The ACGME Awards recognize notable individuals, programs, and organizations for their outstanding work and contributions to graduate medical education.

Review the Program Requirements approved at the most recent meeting of the ACGME Board of Directors; register to participate in Accreditation Site Visit office hours; and sign up to participate in October's ACGME LINC program.

The Advisory Commission on Additional Licensing Models has released its first set of recommendations to guide and advise state medical boards, state legislators, policymakers and others, as they develop and implement laws specific to the licensing of physicians who have already trained and practiced medicine outside the United States or Canada.

2023 John C. Gienapp Awardee Dr. Elias Traboulsi works at the Cleveland Clinic in many roles, including program director for the fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

In the 2021 ACGME Annual Educational Conference session, “Moving Urgently Toward Competency-Based Assessment in GME,” presenters from the ABMS and  ACGME discussed that “the ultimate outcome for graduate medical education is the Quadruple Aim: better outcomes; improved clinician experience; lower costs; improved patient experience.”

Researchers at the ACGME, Duke University, and Maastricht University published the results of a comprehensive study examining the leading causes of death for residents and fellows, building on a similar study completed in 2017.

ACGME Chief of Staff and Chief Education Officer Timothy P. Brigham, MDiv, MS, PhD brought together two national leaders in medicine, Victor Dzau, MD, president of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), and Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, US Surgeon General, to discuss the work to develop the NAM National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being.
