The collaborative was launched in recognition of the need for a national coordinated and collective response to the epidemic of opioid addiction in the US. ACGME President and CEO Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP will serve on the Steering Committee.

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) announced that ACGME President and CEO Thomas J. Nasca, MD, MACP has been named co-lead of the NAM Action Collaborative on Countering the US Opioid Epidemic health professional education and training working group.

Dr. Holmboe has been named a 2018 Honorary Fellow by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College). He has worked on projects with the Royal College for over a decade.

Dr. Nasca shared information about the successful unification of the accreditation system, including representation of DOs on ACGME committees, achievement of Osteopathic Recognition by ACGME-accredited programs, and other updates.

Dr. Nasca and two others received the inaugural National Award for Outstanding Leadership in Support of Clinician Well-Being for their work as co-chairs of the National Academy of Medicine's Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being.

Dink Jardine, MD, chair of the ACGME's Back to Bedside Advisory Work Group, recently participated in a discussion on NEJM Resident360 about physician well-being and wellness focusing on the resident and fellow experience.

Responding to evidence of high rates of depression and suicide among US health care workers, the ACGME joined the National Academy of Medicine, which launched a wide-ranging "action collaborative" to promote clinician well-being.

The ACGME has recently joined the Coalition to Improve Diagnosis, a collaboration with of more than 50 leading health care organizations, focused on ensuring that diagnoses are accurate, communicated, and timely.
