The ACGME is proud to announce the release of the latest edition of its Data Resource Book. This comprehensive resource providing the graduate medical education (GME) community with the latest GME data covers the period from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

The ACGME is proud to announce the 21 recipients of the third cycle of funding for Back to Bedside, a resident-led initiative to develop innovative strategies for finding deeper connections with patients, improving physician and patient well-being.

The ACGME, Association of American Medical Colleges, and American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine are launching an initiative to create a common set of foundational competencies for use in undergraduate medical education programs in the US.

ACGME President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Thomas J. Nasca received the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) 2020 Distinguished Service Award recognizing “the highest level of service, commitment and contribution to the FSMB; the advancement of the profession of medical licensure and discipline; and the strengthening and enhancement of public protection.”

Susan Day, MD, senior vice president, medical affairs, ACGME International received the Marshall M. Parks Silver Medal from the Children’s Eye Foundation of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS).

The ACGME is pleased to announce that Dr. Elisa (Lisa) Crouse will be the organization’s new Senior Vice President, Institutional and Program Accreditation. In this role, Dr. Crouse will work closely with the Chief Accreditation Officer to direct the activities of the executive directors who support accreditation.

This groundbreaking event brought together 90 leaders in graduate and undergraduate medical education, practicing physicians, and disability advocates to address persistent barriers and develop strategies for improving physician education and training in caring for patients with disabilities.

The ACGME recently unveiled a new learning resource designed to support the mental health and well-being of residents and others in the clinical learning environment during key transitional phases.

A recent study published in JAMA Surgery revealed that “ACGME Milestone ratings of “graduating vascular surgeons may be predictive of those surgeons’ risk-adjusted patient outcomes in their early career following a common vascular operation.”
