Dear GME Colleagues,
I’m writing during National Volunteer Week to honor the more than 800 volunteers whose contributions support every accredited program, Sponsoring Institution, and resident and fellow. To each volunteer: You have our enormous gratitude – thank you, on behalf of the ACGME!
Volunteers’ contributions include serving on the ACGME Board of Directors; Review and Recognition Committees and the three Board Councils; the Common Program Requirements, Institutional Requirements, and other Task Forces; and many advisory, working, and writing groups – including for Rural and Underserved GME, Coordinators, Nutrition, Milestones, and others; as well as participating in summits and sharing expertise at the Annual Educational Conference or in courses and workshops, and other activities. By dedicating their time, energy, and expertise to support the ACGME Mission, our volunteers make it possible for ACGME accreditation to both assure and improve the quality of graduate medical education in support of better health for all.
Since joining the ACGME last year, I’ve had the opportunity to engage with many of our volunteers, and I am continually impressed by the dedication, professionalism, thoughtfulness, and “heart” that you bring to medical education and to the ACGME Mission.
For others interested in contributing time and expertise, volunteer opportunities are announced primarily through our weekly e-Communication and social media accounts on Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
Thank you once again to all our volunteers – past, present, and future. The ACGME’s work is more impactful because of you.
Sincerely,

Debra F. Weinstein, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
