ACGME Assists with Successful Placement of Hahnemann Residents and Fellows

Hahnemann University Hospital (HUH) closed its first tier of GME programs July 29 and will close the second and final tier August 6. More than 95 percent of residents/fellows have found new positions and most not yet placed have received offers.

ACGME Supports Hahnemann Residents in New Court Filing

On July 15, 2019, the ACGME requested that the United States Bankruptcy Court require Hahnemann University Hospital to provide for orderly and expeditious transfer of all residents and fellows to programs of their choosing. (Updated July 16, 2019.)

The ACGME has been notified that Hahnemann University Hospital will file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on or about June 28, 2019 with the intention to wind down hospital operations and subsequently close. The ACGME has invoked its Extraordinary Circumstances Policy (ACGME Policies and Procedures, Section 21.00).

ACGME Names First Chief Accreditation Officer

Lynne Kirk, MD, MACP will join the ACGME to lead efforts related to the review of residency and fellowship programs. She will begin this new position in September.
