The ACGME is excited and proud to introduce a redesign of the ACGME website. The updated site features an improved overall design, an enhanced user experience, a better interface, and a modern look and feel. While most of the content has not changed, the navigation and placement of some of the content has. This update and orientation are intended to help users understand what went into and informed this redesign, and how to move around it and find what you’re looking for.

The ACGME is proud to announce its 2023 Award recipients, recognizing the strength, innovation, and commitment to the graduate medical education (GME) community these recipients have displayed.

The first-ever Clinician Educator Milestones are now available, designed to support development and improvement of teaching and learning skills across the continuum of medical education.

The ACGME welcomes Mary E. Klingensmith, MD as the Senior Vice President, Accreditation. Dr. Klingensmith will oversee the accreditation process and standards for ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs across the country.

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience (Clinician Well-Being Collaborative) is announcing a two-year extension of its work to address burnout faced by healthcare workers.  The ACGME is proud to co-chair the Action Collaborative, a network of more than 200 organizations committed to the cause.

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience hosted a virtual meeting, Ensuring Clinician Well-Being in an Age of Uncertainty, to elevate the urgency of national action and map efforts needed to coordinate the long-term health and well-being of clinicians through COVID-19 and beyond.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) recently released its summary report of the Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments (Pursuing Excellence) Pathway Leaders Patient Safety Collaborative.

The JGME article "From Medical School to Residency: Transitions During the COVID-19 Pandemic" explores the trends of PGY-1 residents moving from medical schools to residency, and how those movements may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

JGME has published an open access version of Dr. Thomas J. Nasca's News and Views article for June 2020 discussing the ACGME's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The ACGME recognizes and appreciates the heroic response of hospitals and physicians in the worsening COVID-19 pandemic in New York State. With that acknowledgement, the ACGME Common Program Requirements (Section VI.F.) remain in place nationally.
