One year after the launch of the National Plan for Health Workforce Well-Being, the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) invited health organizations and stakeholders to join an inaugural cohort of Change Makers.

A website has been set up to provide information and updates on the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Competencies initiative. The initiative aims to create a common set of foundational competencies for use in UME programs in the US and improve the transition to graduate medical education.

ACGME President and CEO Dr. Thomas J. Nasca joins NAM President Dr. Victor J. Dzau in encouraging others to join NAM’s new initiative to mobilize all health sector organizations and accelerate the national climate and health movement. 

This week's e-Communication includes information on the redesigned ACGME.org; the Call for Sessions for the 2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference; Review and Comment; and calls for nominations for Review Committees. 

The majority of these physicians are international medical graduates (IMGs), encompassing both foreign nationals and U.S. citizens who completed their medical education and training outside the United States and Canada.

Leading health care and medical associations from across the country today made a statement in support of DEI policies in health care, as a means to help improve the health of our nation.

William A. McDade, MD, PhD has joined the ACGME as its Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. He will lead diversity and inclusion activities focusing on national initiatives to include underrepresented groups in the medical education continuum.

Lynne Kirk, MD, MACP will join the ACGME to lead efforts related to the review of residency and fellowship programs. She will begin this new position in September.

The ACGME today hosted the fifth public meeting of the National Academy of Medicine’s (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience focused on “Redesigning the Clinical Learning Environment.”
