The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), ACGME International (ACGME-I), and the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia are proud to announce their collaboration on the Expansion and Enhancement of Post-Graduate Medical Education for Medical Specialists in the Republic of Indonesia initiative as part of the Indonesian Health System Transformation.

The ACGME recognizes and appreciates the heroic response of hospitals and physicians in the worsening COVID-19 pandemic in New York State. With that acknowledgement, the ACGME Common Program Requirements (Section VI.F.) remain in place nationally.

Bree Bower and her team in the anesthesiology and pain medicine department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio studied the affects of COVID-19 on fellow recruitment and presented that work at the 2021 ACGME Annual Educational Conference in the Poster Hall.

Eight Sponsoring Institutions will participate in the Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments initiative announced earlier this year. The four-year initiative is aimed at driving improvements within clinical learning environments.

In this second in a series of collaboratives, participating teams will develop and test new models that equip learners with the skills they need to better engage in systems-based approaches to delivering high-quality care.

Ahead of National Rural Health Day on November 20, a spotlight on ongoing ACGME initiatives in support of rural and underserved GME.

The family medicine residency program at Mercy in St. Louis, Missouri was recently approved by the ACGME for an optional fourth year focusing on leading community efforts in public health care related to obesity and associated conditions.

Dr. Natasha Bray and colleagues explored how completing a residency in underserved areas affects independent practice location choice in a continuation and expansion of a previous study.

Researchers at the ACGME, Duke University, and Maastricht University published the results of a comprehensive study examining the leading causes of death for residents and fellows, building on a similar study completed in 2017.
