More than 300 designated institutional officials, institutional coordinators, and other members of the graduate medical education (GME) community attended the ACGME’s third National Learning Community of Sponsoring Institutions and Clinical Learning Environments meeting, Building Connections, Leading Change, at the ACGME Conference Center and online October 8 and 9, 2024.

Eight Sponsoring Institutions will participate in the Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments initiative announced earlier this year. The four-year initiative is aimed at driving improvements within clinical learning environments.

The ACGME would like to congratulate Drs. Kenechukwu Ojukwu (Project Leader) and Erica Fermon, the Back to Bedside project team from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) David Geffen School of Medicine/UCLA Medical Center, winners of this year’s “Shark Tank”-style competition at the 2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, held March 7-9 in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Ashraf Mohamed El Ghul, is the designated institutional official (DIO) and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His institution’s and program’s experience with ACGME International brought him to the 2019 ACGME Annual Educational Conference and we asked him to share his experience.

The Journal of Graduate Medical Education will present a new session at the 2024 ACGME Annual Educational Conference, designed for anyone interested in medical education scholarship.
