The ACGME today hosted the fifth public meeting of the National Academy of Medicine’s (NAM) Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience focused on “Redesigning the Clinical Learning Environment.”

The ACGME presented the second in a series of webinars designed around the findings of Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) Program site visits related to the six CLER Focus Areas.

The ACGME issued a statement April 5, 2020 regarding its expectations within the clinical learning environment amidst the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE). This statement is updated to include a link to resources on optimizing PPE.

The ACGME recognizes and appreciates the heroic response of hospitals and physicians in the worsening COVID-19 pandemic in New York State. With that acknowledgement, the ACGME Common Program Requirements (Section VI.F.) remain in place nationally.

The collaborative is third in a series to engage residents and fellows, improve their ability to provide quality health care.

This edition of the ACGME e-Communication includes Review and Recognition Committee news, information on Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) Site Visits, and nomination solicitations for public and resident Review Committee members. 

The ACGME has issued an updated statement that supercedes all other guidance regarding early graduation from US allopathic and osteopathic medical schools and early appointment to the clinical learning environment.

These resources are designed to support and promote wellness in the clinical learning environment. They support the elements of Section VI of the Common Program Requirements, which emphasize psychological, emotional, and physical well-being.
