This award honors residents and fellows who have actively implemented strategies that lead to measurable improvements in patient safety within their Sponsoring Institution or residency/fellowship program. These individuals demonstrate a commitment to advancing patient safety through innovative solutions and initiatives, resulting in tangible outcomes that enhance the overall quality of care.

The 2022 ACGME Annual Educational Conference will be a fully virtual experience for the second year in a row, including pre-conferences. While the conference will offer content in live, semi-live, and on-demand formats, the pre-conferences are almost entirely live, which presents a unique and exciting opportunity to connect and learn. 

The ACGME is excited and proud to introduce a redesign of the ACGME website. The updated site features an improved overall design, an enhanced user experience, a better interface, and a modern look and feel. While most of the content has not changed, the navigation and placement of some of the content has. This update and orientation are intended to help users understand what went into and informed this redesign, and how to move around it and find what you’re looking for.

The ACGME is pleased to announce that Mary E. Klingensmith, MD will assume the role of Chief Accreditation Officer effective August 31. In her new role, Dr. Klingensmith will lead activities related to the Review and Recognition Committees for graduate medical education.

2023 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Teach Awardee Dr. Timothy R. Long is a program director for anesthesiology and vice chair for education at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

2021 Parker J. Palmer Courage to Lead Awardee Deborah M. DeMarco, MD is the senior associate dean for clinical affairs, associate dean for GME, and designated institutional official (DIO) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She specializes in rheumatology.

2022 David C. Leach Awardee Jeremy Weleff, DO is a psychiatry resident at the Cleveland Clinic.
