#ACGME2026 Session Summary: ACGME Cloud – Progress, Next Steps, and Ways to Stay Engaged
At last month’s ACGME Annual Educational Conference, a session focused on the ACGME’s digital transformation work shed light on progress to date, next steps, and opportunities to engage with ACGME Cloud. Attendees had a preview of how ACGME Cloud is evolving and, importantly, how users across the community are already putting it to work. Through a live demo, a panel discussion with users from multiple organizations, and a preview of what’s to come, the session highlighted how ACGME Cloud is helping with the ACGME’s focus on reducing administrative burden associated with accreditation, while unlocking the power of data and analytics.
Real‑World Perspectives: How Users Are Leveraging ACGME Cloud
In a thoughtful and informative panel, Megan Overgaard (Associate Director, Data & Strategic Systems for GME, Indiana University School of Medicine); Leslie Pfeiffer, MHA (Accreditation Director, Henry Ford Health); and Angie Rangel, C-TAGME (Educational Program Coordinator, Mayo Clinic (Phoenix)) shared their experience on the platform with the audience, which reinforced a common theme: ACGME Cloud is changing how institutions interact with accreditation and education data.
Ms. Overgaard highlighted how ACGME Cloud can synthesize and summarize complex data into insights that are easy to understand and act on. She noted that the visualizations were “clean, concise, and intuitive.” Ease of use also featured prominently in the discussion. Ms. Rangel noted how much “easier the platform has become to navigate,” especially with ACGME Cloud serving as a centralized hub for analytics and reporting.
Several panelists shared how ACGME Cloud has replaced time‑consuming manual workflows. The ability to view trend data and drill down to the individual question level was called out as a major improvement, one that removes the need to build and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets. This shift from manual reporting to self‑service analytics allows users to spend less time preparing data and more time interpreting it. For many attendees, this was a tangible example of how ACGME Cloud is delivering on the goal to reduce administrative burden and maximize high‑value work.
Training and onboarding were another recurring theme. Ms. Pfeiffer emphasized how recent updates have made ACGME Cloud significantly “more user‑friendly for program directors and program coordinators” compared with the previous system. Given the turnover often seen in these roles, having an intuitive platform with clear dashboards and streamlined navigation is a major advantage in reducing the learning curve.
Institutional leaders also shared how ACGME Cloud will support decision‑making at a higher level. The institutional dashboard was commended for providing a true bird’s‑eye view of key metrics across all of a Sponsoring Institution’s ACGME-sponsored programs.
What’s Next for ACGME Cloud
The session also previewed what’s ahead. An upcoming release will include a unified user experience across ACGME Cloud and ADS, featuring streamlined navigation, a global application switcher, and an artificial intelligence‑powered smart search. On the ACGME Cloud | Analytics side, new and expanded dashboards, such as for multi‑year and specialty‑specific ACGME Survey reports, as well as operational dashboards, and Milestones dashboards, will further deepen insights and flexibility for users.
The session concluded with a call to action to stay engaged. The panelists encouraged attendees to share feedback that can influence future enhancements and shape the platform’s evolution.
ACGME Cloud is being built in collaboration with its users, and this session made it clear that community input is not just welcomed, but essential.
