NEW! Crosswalk Documents to Be Removed
As the ACGME announced in February, and effective July 1, 2025, all ACGME Requirements documents have been reformatted. The ACGME provided crosswalk documents mapping old reference numbers to new ones for each set of Requirements.
The crosswalk documents will be removed from the ACGME website on September 12, 2025. To retain a copy of these documents, download them prior to that date; they are located on the respective Common Program Requirements, Specialties, Osteopathic Recognition, Sponsoring Institution-Based Fellowships, Non-Standard Training Recognition, Combined Programs and Institutional Application and Requirements pages of the ACGME website.
NEW! Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Case Log Graduate Statistics National Report
The national Case Log graduate statistics reports for the specialty are now available to osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine programs in the Accreditation Data System (ADS). The 2023-2024 national report can also be accessed through the reports section of the public version of ADS. Future academic year reports will be made available once the Case Log data is finalized.

FRIDAY! Writing Group for Medical Genetics and Genomics
The Writing Group for Medical Genetics and Genomics will soon begin development of the revised Program Requirements.
To inform this effort, it seeks stakeholder input from current medical genetics and genomics residents and those who have graduated from a medical genetics and genomics residency program in the last three years.
Program directors are encouraged to share this survey with their current or recently graduated residents/fellows. Responses are due August 29, 2025.

The Institutional Review Committee (IRC) has released two topics-based surveys to support the major revision of the Institutional Requirements.
Survey 1 (closes September 5) addresses: Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and Institutional Coordinator Roles, and Oversight
Survey 2 (open through September 19) addresses: Resident/Fellow Forum and Sponsoring Institution Size Adaptation

TWO WEEKS! Seeking Stakeholder Input on Transitional Year
The Transitional Year Writing Group will soon begin development of the revised Program Requirements. To inform this effort before beginning this work, the Writing Group seeks stakeholder input in several key areas from those involved in transitional year programs, as well as programs in specialties that require a fundamental clinical skill year. These include:
- aerospace medicine
- anesthesiology
- dermatology
- diagnostic radiology
- interventional radiology - integrated
- nuclear medicine
- occupational and environmental medicine
- ophthalmology
- osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine

The ACGME is accepting nominations for the Coordinator Advisory Group, which serves as a consultative body to the ACGME administration concerning coordinator, GME, learning environment, and accreditation matters. Members will serve three-year terms beginning, July 1, 2026.

Self-Empowerment Workshop for Coordinators
Session: September 8-16, 2025
Details: This is a seven-day online workshop with one interactive, live session on September 11 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Central.
Participants must begin Day 1 on September 8. Learn practical strategies for acting as a leader in the coordinator role, successful networking, overcoming challenges to professionalism, promoting achievements, and effectively navigating complex interpersonal situations. This free workshop is repeated monthly.
Continuing Education Credit
This activity has been approved for continuing education credit by the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME). Participants who complete the course in its entirety are eligible to receive 10 education credits in the content area of professional development.

Assessing Geriatric Competencies in Residents: Validating the 5Ms Dimensions

A novel case-based assessment was developed using the geriatric 5Ms framework (Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multicomplexity, Matters Most), aligned with internal medicine educational milestones. The assessment was piloted with internal medicine residents and showed feasibility in implementation and preliminary validity evidence for evaluating geriatric medical expertise.
Riding the Roller Coaster: A Year of Change for One DIO

A DIO reflects on a year marked by significant institutional change as their health system prepared for acquisition, tracking their well-being throughout the process. They identified key behaviors and strategies, such as active listening and transparent communication, that helped navigate emotional and operational challenges. Their experience underscores the impact of leadership responsibilities on personal well-being and highlights the importance of resilience and adaptability.
