#ACGME2023: Join Us in Nashville!

The ACGME is excited to welcome the graduate medical education (GME) community to Nashville, Tennessee, for the 2023 Annual Educational Conference! As we approach the closing of online registration on February 3, we hope you’ve already spent some time deciding which sessions you’re most excited to attend. While your schedule will be packed with educational sessions, networking opportunities, and more at the conference, we hope you’ll also find time to explore Nashville.

After a full day of learning and collaboration at the conference, unwind by experiencing Nashville’s live country music and nightlife in the evening. Attend a concert at the world-famous Grand Ole Opry, just a short walk from the conference venue, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. The lucky winners of Thursday evening’s Exhibitor Scavenger Hunt will even win tickets to see Saturday evening’s Opry show! If you’d like to venture further afield, the historic Ryman Auditorium and Bluebird Café also offer live performances. Stroll down Music Mile on historic Broadway Street to experience the lively vibe of the city and hear Nashville’s up-and-coming talent perform in dozens of bars and saloons.

While you’ll be joining us for breakfast and lunch on conference days, make sure to leave some time to try a classic Nashville fried chicken sandwich (challenge your taste buds to a truly spicy heat level if you dare!), southern biscuits, local barbecue, or a classic southern meat-and-three.

If you’ve booked some extra time in Nashville before or after the conference, Nashville also boasts many attractions for all ages, such as the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and RCA Studio B, a recording studio known as the birthplace of the “Nashville sound.” Take a backstage tour of the Grand Ole Opry to walk in the footsteps of country music superstars and learn about what happens behind the scenes of the venue’s biggest concerts. For something truly unique, visit Nashville’s Parthenon, which is a full-scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens, Greece. While impressive in its own right, the Parthenon also houses a museum and a 42-foot replica of the statue of Athena.

To get a lay of the land and see a bit of everything Nashville has to offer, Old Town Trolleys offers hop-on-hop-off trolley tours. The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center offers convenient hotel shuttle services to downtown Nashville for a small fee on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as a daily complimentary shuttle to the nearby Opry Mills Mall. Take advantage of these opportunities if you’re looking for a way to recharge after a session-packed day!

Even if you don’t leave the hotel property, the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center offers many activities and experiences that are fun for the whole family, and a great way to wind down after a full day of learning. Take a Delta Riverboat Tour to cruise the scenic indoor river in the 4.5-acre Delta Atrium or relax at the SoundWaves upscale resort water attraction (for an additional fee). Shop for souvenirs, jewelry, and Opry-inspired western wear at the on-property shops, and enjoy the wide variety of dining options, including rustic Italian fare at Ravello, signature steakhouse Old Hickory Steakhouse, and traditional southern Nashville food at Jack Daniel’s.

All in all, we hope this conference enriches your learning, and that being in exciting Nashville provides you with a chance to energize and reflect. If you haven’t done so yet, make sure to register by February 3 so you can join us in Music City for collaboration, learning, and a bit of Nashville fun!
