The ACGME is excited to welcome the graduate medical education (GME) community to Orlando, Florida for the 2024 Annual Educational Conference. Registration opens in fall 2023 – sign up to be the first to know when registration is available! While your conference schedule will be packed with educational sessions, networking opportunities, and more, there’s also plenty to explore in the Orlando area. As the unofficial “Theme Park Capital of the World,” Orlando has no shortage of activities for the whole family!

Local Culture and Entertainment
After a full day of learning and collaboration at the conference, unwind with some fun in close proximity to the conference venue. ICON Park, just two miles from Rosen Shingle Creek (and even closer to the other hotels in the ACGME room block), offers a wide variety of experiences, including a 400-foot Ferris wheel with stunning views, an aquarium, a wax museum, tempting dining options, and more. Also two miles from Rosen Shingle Creek, The Pointe Orlando features restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and even an escape room. Take advantage of these opportunities if you’re looking for a way to recharge after a session-packed day!

Even if you don’t leave the hotel property, Rosen Shingle Creek offers a number of exciting amenities, including a golf course, a spa, four heated pools, basketball, and sand volleyball. As a special treat for attendees, the ACGME will convert the property’s tennis courts into pickleball courts during the conference, so stop by for a quick brain break and some exercise! Make sure to take a break during your busy day with an energizing walk on the property’s nature trails. You’ll spot local birds and other wildlife – be sure to wear your walking shoes and watch out for alligators! Grab dinner at one of many delicious restaurants, including Mexican cuisine at Mi Casa, sushi at Banrai Sushi, Italian at Cala Bella, and steak and seafood at A Land Remembered.

If museums are more your speed, consider the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, Wells’Built Museum of African American History and Culture, or the free Rollins Museum of Art. Orlando also has a Shakespeare Theater, a philharmonic, and a ballet.

Supporting the Community
For those looking to give back to the local community, the ACGME is excited to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida (SHFBCF), a non-profit organization that works to distribute food and grocery products to more than 625 local non-profit feeding partners throughout Central Florida. Through the help of food and financial donors, volunteers, and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributes 300,000 meals every day to a seven-county service area. By investing in job training programs, advocating for access to nutritious foods, and inspiring the community to get involved, SHFBCF is leaning into the root causes of hunger and helping its neighbors thrive. Join us Thursday evening during the Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception and Exhibitor Kick-Off as we help put together thousands of meals for SHFBCF!

And of Course…
If you’ve booked some extra time in Orlando before or after the conference, take advantage of the world-renowned theme parks, including Universal Orlando Resort, Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, and others. As a Universal Orlando Partner Hotel, Rosen Shingle Creek offers complimentary shuttles to Universal-affiliated parks. Disney Springs, Disney’s Boardwalk, and Universal CityWalk are all free to walk around, and offer many shops, restaurants, and activities.

We hope this conference enriches your learning, and that you also find time to energize and reflect while you’re there.

Make sure to sign up to be notified as soon as registration opens so you can join us in Florida for collaboration, learning, and a bit of fun! Learn more on the ACGME’s conference website.
