Explore San Antonio at #ACGME2027!

September 30, 2026

The ACGME is excited to welcome the graduate medical education (GME) community to San Antonio, Texas, for the 2027 Annual Educational Conference! Taking place February 25-27, 2027, at the Henry B. González Convention Center, this year’s conference will bring together thousands of educators, leaders, administrators, learners, and innovators for three days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration.

And when the day’s sessions are over, take advantage and experience everything that makes San Antonio a memorable destination.

Whether you extend your stay before or after the conference, or are in town just for those few days of the conference, San Antonio offers plenty to see. Be sure to visit the Alamo or discover the city’s rich cultural heritage at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Together, San Antonio’s five missions make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the only one in Texas.

Also make sure you come hungry! Try a puffy taco, discover the city’s rich Tex-Mex tradition, or choose from restaurants throughout downtown. Sharing a meal is also a great opportunity to continue conversations and connections from #ACGME2027 while experiencing more of the city.

After a day of learning and collaboration, head out into the city’s vibrant downtown, where history, culture, and hospitality come together. The Convention Center puts attendees close to the famous River Walk, with restaurants, shops, outdoor patios, and scenic walking paths. Take an evening stroll along the river, listen to live music, or gather with colleagues over dinner with a view. There’s no shortage of ways to unwind and connect.

Now one of the city’s most recognizable attractions, the San Antonio River Walk grew out of flood-control and urban-design efforts dating to the early 20th century. The park-like environment that followed was built between 1939 and 1941, combining architecture, landscaping, and civil engineering.

For something a little more unexpected, San Antonio is home to the world’s largest cowboy boots, a pair of sculptures standing 40 feet tall outside North Star Mall, a 12-minute drive from the Convention Center.

Getting around is easy, with many attractions accessible from the Convention Center and downtown hotels. The River Walk provides a scenic way to explore downtown, while rideshare services and public transportation can help you venture further.

The ACGME has secured hotel accommodations near the Convention Center to help attendees stay close to conference activities while enjoying all that downtown San Antonio has to offer. Once registration opens and you’ve locked in your attendance, be sure to reserve your room early to take advantage of the best selection and rates.

We look forward to welcoming you to San Antonio for an unforgettable #ACGME2027 experience filled with learning, collaboration, and connection. So come for the conference, but plan to make the most of your visit by discovering a city known for its history, culture, food, and innovation.

Get excited and start planning! Sign up to be notified when registration opens and visit the 2027 Annual Educational Conference website for the latest updates.
