NEW! Concurrent Application Pilot

The ACGME is establishing a pilot program with the purpose of expediting the review of new Sponsoring Institution and program applications, particularly for those with a mission to serve MUA/Ps.

This process would allow an institution and program to submit applications at the same time and to receive both institutional and program accreditation decisions within a nine-to-12-month period.

The pilot will last for one year, from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, and will accept up to 12 new Sponsoring Institutions. Share this information with those who may be interested in applying. Learn more and read FAQs on the ACGME website.

The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Residency Application Evaluation—A Scoping Review
Maxwell D. Sumner, BS; T. Clark Howell, MD, MSHS; et al.
The authors of this article performed a scoping review of artificial intelligence (AI) model development and use in residency/fellowship application review, including whether bias was explored. They found that few studies have been published on incorporating AI into residency/fellowship selection, bias remains largely unexplored, and there is a need for standardization in reporting bias and fairness within this area of research. Beyond the Book: A Novel Media-Based Approach to Resident Learning and Reflection
Lauren E. Gibson-Oliver, MD, MBA, FAAFP; Wayne Bryant Jr., MD, MS
In response to challenges found with a traditional book club, e.g., residents not being able to keep up with the copious amounts of reading, the authors of this New Idea article launched a Resident Media Club in their family medicine residency program. Residents have reported that the accessible format fosters deeper engagement with professional topics, without the added burden of pre-session work.
