NEW! CLER Report of Findings 2021: Subprotocol for Operative and Procedural Areas

The CLER Program has released a special report of findings from the CLER Subprotocol for Operative and Procedural Areas. The report provides new insights into these key clinical areas through the lens of their roles as clinical learning environments for our nation’s resident and fellow physicians. As with the larger CLER national reports, the key findings of the subprotocol highlight a mixture of strengths and opportunities for improvement, some unique to the perioperative environment, and some that are similar to other places the clinical learning environment.

REMINDER! Medical School Portal

In November 2020, the ACGME launched a new Medical School Portal, designed primarily to provide feedback about the experience and performance of a medical school’s graduates to support the school’s continuous quality improvement efforts. The intended audience for the Portal is medical school administrators, or faculty or staff members involved in assessing student learning.

The Portal includes outcomes of individual graduates and cohorts of graduates. By providing this information to the schools, the ACGME is acting on its obligation to responsibly share information in order to facilitate evidence-informed, learner-centric discussions about improving each phase of the continuum of medical education. These data can serve as a resource for program improvement in undergraduate medical education, which would, in turn, benefit graduate medical education programs, and ultimately, the patients served by the physicians who learn and train across the medical education continuum.

The ACGME sent custom emails to the medical school leaders identified by AAMC and AACOM as a primary contact (only one individual per school was granted the login access). At this time, 60 percent of the medical schools have not logged into the portal.

Contact MedSchoolPortal@acgme.org for assistance accessing a school's accounts.

Non-Physician Faculty Profile Data Collection Changes Coming March 2021

To more accurately document the qualifications of non-physician faculty members, the information requested in ADS for non-physician faculty members will be updated during March 2021. Information requested for non-physician faculty members will include area of specialization and, if applicable, certification details.

The change will require programs to review non-physician faculty members currently listed on the Faculty Roster and add any missing information. Programs should update these faculty members’ credentials after the changes go into effect. A second announcement will be made when the changes are in effect.

Email questions to ADS@acgme.org.
