Review Committee News / Notices: Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Update

The ACGME Board of Directors recently approved revisions to program administration dedicated time and support Common Program Requirements. While these revisions were being deliberated, the proposed revisions specific to obstetrics and gynecology residency program administration dedicated time and support (posted for review and comment in late 2020) were put on hold. Now that the revised Common Program Requirements have been approved, the Review Committee has finalized the support required for residency program directors, associate program directors, and program coordinators. The revisions are based on guidelines provided by the ACGME Board to foster consistency across Review Committees. The revised administration dedicated time and support requirements can be found under “Future Effective Date 2022” on the Program Requirements and FAQs and Applications page in the Obstetrics and Gynecology section of the ACGME website. See Program Requirements II.A.2.a) and II.C.2.a). The revised administrative support requirements are effective July 1, 2022.

Also available on the Program Requirements and FAQs and Applications page in the Obstetrics and Gynecology section of the ACGME website are revised ACGME Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology effective July 1, 2021. This version can be found under “Currently in Effect” and includes all approved revisions with the exception of those related to program administration dedicated time and support. For the 2021-2022 academic year, the requirements for 50 percent FTE program director support and 100 percent FTE program coordinator support remain in effect.
