#ACGME2027 Full-Day Course for Sponsoring Institutions: Strengthening Institutional Leadership and Oversight
Whether new to institutional leadership or serving in a long-established role, Sponsoring Institution leaders face the shared challenge of ensuring effective oversight of graduate medical education (GME) while navigating an increasingly complex environment. The Full-Day Course for Sponsoring Institutions at the 2027 ACGME Annual Educational Conference provides a forum for designated institutional officials (DIOs), institutional coordinators and other GME administrative professionals, and other leaders to hear from the Institutional Review Committee (IRC), exchange ideas with colleagues, and explore strategies for strengthening institutional oversight.
Designed specifically for leaders responsible for overseeing GME, this course combines informational updates from the IRC with interactive learning activities focused on the challenges and opportunities facing ACGME-accredited Sponsoring Institutions today.
Learn from Experts and Peers
Through interactive sessions and facilitated discussions, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from peers representing different types of institutions from across the country.
The collaborative format encourages meaningful dialogue and provides a unique forum for discussing common challenges, emerging trends, and practical solutions for managing institutional responsibilities within GME. The full speaker list is available in the Session Schedule.
Practical Knowledge for Effective Oversight
Throughout the day, attendees will explore strategies and best practices. The course is designed to help participants strengthen the skills necessary to guide their Sponsoring Institutions and foster high-quality learning environments for residents and fellows.
The course will also offer a glimpse into the IRC through a mock IRC meeting and interactive table work, updates about Non-Standard Training Recognition activities, and learn about steps to follow for implementing the new Institutional Requirements. And that’s just a glimpse of the learning experiences happening throughout the day.
