Stephen R. Estime, MD; Edwin K. McDonald, MD; Megham Twiss, MA, MDiv;
Jeremy Podczerwinski, BS; Anita K. Blanchard, MD
Recruiting a diverse workforce can be challenging given the limited candidate pool and biased selection processes that contribute to disparities. This Perspectives article provides a structured approach to inclusive recruitment through data organization, strategic program recommendations, and graduate medical education-led supporting initiatives.

Trust Me, I Know Them: Assessing Interpersonal Bias in Surgery Residency Interviews
Chelsea Towaij, MD; Nada Gawad, MD, MAEd; Kameela Alibhai, BSc;
Danielle Doan, MAEd; Isabelle Raîche, MD, MAEd
This retrospective Canadian study examines whether having prior knowledge of applicants influences interviewers during residency selection in a multiple mini-interview format. To investigate this potential for bias and to what extent it may influence scoring, file review and applicant interview scores were gathered from 2019-2021, comparing known versus unknown applicants to the University of Ottawa General Surgery Residency Training Program.
