ACGME Introduces ACGME Cloud Accreditation
The ACGME is pleased to announce the latest development in its digital transformation journey, ACGME Cloud Accreditation, a new product in the ACGME Cloud platform designed to provide a more efficient, streamlined experience for accreditation and recognition activities across the graduate medical education (GME) community. Expected to launch in July 2027, it will replace the Accreditation Data System (ADS) and provide a more unified, user-friendly experience while maintaining the core accreditation and recognition functions and processes that users rely on today.

Call for Abstracts
The ACGME invites proposals for abstracts for the 2027 ACGME Annual Educational Conference. Abstract presenters will be able to showcase their research to thousands in the GME community, and select posters will be chosen for oral poster presentations. Members of the GME community are encouraged to use this opportunity to share their innovations and research with their peers.

The board curricular requirements for the family medicine-psychiatry combined program is now posted in the table on the Combined Programs page.
Curricular requirements for the remaining formats will be posted as they become available, and communication will be sent directly to programs.

NEW! Milestones Available
Milestones are now available for correctional (carceral) medicine and health care administration, leadership, and management. Programs will officially start using the new Milestones in August 2026, with the first reporting in January 2027. A Supplemental Guide has also been created as a companion tool and is available in both a Word and PDF format on the Sponsoring Institution-Based Fellowships page.

The ACGME is conducting an assessment to better understand the faculty development needs and interests of current and potential faculty members working in rural and underserved communities. The results will inform development of a virtual faculty development program focused on practical skills for teaching, supervising, assessing, and supporting medical students, residents, and fellows in rural and underserved clinical settings.

NEW! Coordinator's Guide to Effective Abstract Writing
This four-week online course is designed for coordinators with two to three years of GME experience who have already completed a project or scholarly activity, have data and/or project outcomes available, and/or have written or attempted an abstract previously.
This course is not intended to teach research methods, data collection, or statistical analysis. Instead, participants will learn tools to condense, frame, refine, and align completed work with abstract expectations and submission requirements. Through collaborative and interactive activities, the course breaks down the process of developing a compelling abstract step by step.
This four-week online course begins September 14. There are also two live sessions on September 16 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Central and September 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Central.
Participants must begin Day 1 on September 14.

Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment Course
Registration for Developing Faculty Competencies in Assessment is now open for the November 2026 session.
This six-day course in Chicago, Illinois is highly interactive, using multiple learning approaches combined with systems thinking to help participants build effective programs of assessment for their residency or fellowship.
Participants will learn to:
- apply outcomes- and competency-based education principles in GME;
- strengthen assessment practices, tools, and decision-making quality;
- enhance Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee effectiveness and use longitudinal data to support learners;
- deliver effective feedback and support struggling learners; and,
- develop and implement an action plan for program improvement.

Which Filterable ERAS Metrics Predict Success in US Pediatric Residency? A Multisite Cohort Study

This study examined whether filterable Electronic Residency Application Service metrics predicted ACGME Pediatrics Milestones performance among 518 residents across 10 pediatrics residency programs. Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) membership showed the strongest positive association with Milestones ratings. The findings suggest that GHHS membership may contribute to holistic residency selection, although the study’s limited sample and potential selection bias warrant replication in other settings and specialties.

The author calls for further research to examine the effects of humor on information retention, learner engagement, and perceptions of psychological safety.
