TWO WEEKS! ACGME Cloud and ADS Survey Available

The latest updates to ACGME Cloud and the Accreditation Data System (ADS) launched April 13, including the new unified user experience and additions and enhancements to ACGME Cloud | Analytics. The ACGME Cloud team would like to gather feedback from users on their experience with navigation across ACGME Cloud products and ADS, data, and reports by completing a brief survey.
The survey will close May 31, 2026.
NEW! ACGME Cloud, ADS, and Case Log System Downtime for Academic Year Rollover
ACGME Cloud, ADS, and the Case Log System will be unavailable from Friday, June 26 at 11:59 p.m. Central until approximately 4:00 p.m. Central on Saturday, June 27 to convert to the 2026-2027 academic year.
After 4:00 p.m. on June 27, the ACGME's data systems will reflect Academic Year 2026-2027, and all residents and fellows will have an "unconfirmed" status that programs will need to update during the ADS Annual Update.

FRIDAY! Nutrition Milestones for Review and Comment
A draft of the proposed multidisciplinary Nutrition Milestones is available for review and comment. The Work Group also created a Supplemental Guide to enhance understanding of the draft Milestones.
These Milestones have been developed for use as a tool by programs to assess whether their nutrition curriculum and experiences are improving residents’/fellows’ nutrition competence. This subcompetency will not be a part of programs’ biannual reporting requirements.
The community’s ongoing participation in the Milestones revision process is crucial to the Milestones development. Kindly distribute the draft linked above and survey linked below among colleagues and learners so that they can review the new material.

Resident/Fellow and Faculty Survey Data and Reports Now Available
ACGME Resident/Fellow and Faculty Survey data and reports are now available for Sponsoring Institutions and programs, accessible in both ADS and ACGME Cloud:
- Sign into ADS, then use the navigation menu on the left to select the "Surveys" option. Scroll down to the "Reports" section, choose the academic year and program, then click "View Reports."
- Sign into the new ACGME Cloud | Analytics platform, then click the "Surveys" option under the "Explore Program Data or Explore Sponsoring Institution Data" heading.
- Note: The survey dashboards provide more visuals, trend data, and specialty and national comparisons than what is provided in the survey reports available in ADS.
NEW! Starting with reports generated in 2026, the ACGME will no longer support the display of program, national, and specialty means on the Resident/Fellow and Faculty Survey reports.

Scheduling Criteria for Resident and Fellow Milestones Evaluations
Started Program Off-Cycle Status
Residents and fellows with a "Started Off-Cycle" status in ADS will be automatically scheduled to participate in Milestones evaluations once they have been in their program for at least 60 days.
Leaves of Absence
Additionally, residents and fellows who have recently had or are currently on a leave of absence are also scheduled for a Milestones evaluation.
These updates apply for the reporting window open now and hereafter. The changes allow more data to be collected and create a more complete record of evaluations for each learner.

NEW! Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation January Meeting Canceled
The Review Committee will not meet in January 2027, and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation section of the ACGME website has been updated to reflect the revised meeting schedule. Sponsoring Institutions with programs planning to submit new applications should be aware of the next two meeting agenda closing dates: July 1, 2026 (for September 2026 review) and February 8, 2027 (for April 2027 review).

The recently updated Faculty Development Toolkit, available in Learn at ACGME, includes a variety of easy-to-access microlearning modules. The e-Communication will spotlight each of these over the next several weeks.
The Rationale for Workplace-Based Assessment microlearning session highlights the importance of direct observation, patient-centered communication, and the impact of assumptions about abilities, providing the foundation that leads to deliberate practice and mastery learning.

CLEAR: Comparative Letter Examination and Analysis for Red Flags

This Brief Report summarizes a study in which de-identified letters of recommendation were screened by two human reviewers along with a natural language processing model for “red flags” signifying a struggling learner or professionalism concerns. The model was quicker and demonstrated a high degree of consistency and agreement, showing that an artificial intelligence-supported screening tool could be a useful addition in the initial application review process.
